A state of horror and fear has once again spread in the Gaza Strip after the Israeli occupation forces announced the resumption of their military operations in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip continues for the fifty-sixth day, accompanied by a strict blockade and a shortage of food supplies.
Since the morning of December 1st, in the early hours, the Israeli occupation forces have killed more than 109 civilians and declared a new phase of fighting against the residents of the southern Gaza Strip.
Ashraf al Qudra, the spokesperson for Gaza’s Ministry of Health ministry, told the media: “Nine Palestinians, including four children, lost their lives in Rafah, a region in the south designated as a "safe zone" by Israel. Additionally, 10 people have been killed in al-Maghazi in central Gaza, and five in Gaza City to the north.
Ahmed Abu Taema, 33, resides in the Khuza'a neighbourhood, Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip. “We woke up this morning to brutal Israeli shelling, terrifying us and our children. In reality, we forgot that we are in a state of war due to the temporary ceasefire in the past seven days”.
“We were hoping the ceasefire would continue until a complete ceasefire is reached, but unfortunately, we returned to the same circle of torment with the continuation of the Israeli aggression”, Ahmed said.
At the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, Israel carried out indiscriminate and brutal shelling on the city of Gaza, separating the north from the south and considering the north a combat zone. People in the Gaza Strip were forced to evacuate to the south, considering it a safe and protected zone for civilians according to the Israeli occupation forces.
Today, Israel initiated the distribution of leaflets in certain areas of southern Gaza, advising civilians to evacuate towards the south, specifically to Rafah, near the border with Egypt.
The leaflets distributed in Khan Younis explicitly stated that the city had become a “dangerous battle zone”.
Ahmed Masoud, 22, a youth activist, said, “We fled from the Gaza Strip to the south in search of a safe place, although we know that there is no safe place in the Gaza Strip. Today, we were surprised in the morning by the Israeli forces distributing warning leaflets and threats to evacuate Khan Yunis (southern Gaza Strip) and go to Rafah”.
“The south here is densely populated, with approximately 1.6 million people in Rafah, Khan Yunis, and Deir al-Balah, and now Israel is squeezing all the residents and displaced persons in Rafah and Deir al-Balah. We don't know where people will go”, Masoud told while he was grieving.
“I am hosting about 200 people from Gaza City in my house, forced to leave their homes in Gaza City after it was bombed and destroyed, in the Bani Suheila neighbourhood in Khan Yunis. Today, Israel warns us to evacuate our homes and go to Rafah”, a resident in Khan Yunis told, refused to mention her name.
The Israeli forces continue to intensify their bombardment on the city of Khan Younis on the first day of resuming military operations in the Gaza Strip. “We don't know where to go, and living has become a tragedy. We are afraid of a genocide in Khan Younis, as happened in the northern Gaza Strip”, said 34 years old Adel Al-Aseeli.
“We were forced to leave our homes in the Nasr neighbourhood in the southern Gaza Strip, and now Israel wants us to evacuate our homes as displaced people from Khan Younis to other areas. We will not leave to any other place, and we prefer to die here instead of a life of humiliation and misery that we are experiencing”, Adel explained.
The Palestinian government media office in Gaza reported that civilian residences were the focus of numerous air raids throughout the densely populated region. Besides, Gaza residents witnessed substantial plumes of smoke billowing above the ruins in the northern part of the enclave.
