Neoliberal policies of the Troika and the European Union have led to an end the dream and promises of a Europe united on the values of solidarity and social progress. The founding principles and values of the Union have been violated and sacrificed on the altar of the absolute power of irresponsible banks, which lent at close range for years knowing positively that they were creating bubbles of fictitious growth and unpayable debts.

In communion of interests with the major European parties, the economic speculative model has imposed across Europe the basic idea of the neoliberal agenda (there is no alternative), and a continent that was admired worldwide has turned into a commercial project which annihilates rights and freedom and creates intolerable levels of unemployment, inequality, poverty and injustice –at figures only seen during the post World War.

The situation of economic and social suffocation, the humanitarian crisis and the lack of horizons generated among the most vulnerable populations of the States most heavily indebted by these european technocratic policies has become unbearable, and should end as soon as possible. Negotiations with Greece are only the latest proof: the politicians who run the institutions in the EU and the Troika rule for banks and not for citizens.

CTXT wants to make an urgent appeal to the European Union to assure that the Greek Executive, freely elected only six months ago, can manage with calm and without pressure or blackmails the social emergency produced by his predecessors in power. Those Greek politicians promoted corruption, waste and tax evasion for decades –and the EU never seemed uncomfortable with that--. And then, with the advent of the crisis, they admitted, without a blink and with no accountability at all, the terrible conditions and the “austericide” imposed by their creditors.

We also ask France and Germany, the countries that lent more money to Greece and more illegal commissions paid to promote their own business and exports, to apply a significant haircut to the Greek debt, and to grant an immediate truce to the citizens of the Hellenic country. It is not true that there is no alternative. You can have it, but only if Europe realizes that it's not possible to build anything leaving the weakest along the way and forgetting the foundations (peace, justice, democracy and prosperity) on which the EU was built.

If the EU and the Troika continue to demand the full payment of an unpayable debt to a ruined country and their people, it would not only be a reckless act. it will very likely lead us all towards a new suicide of Europe --the third one in just 100 years.
